So I might be getting a free light bar on conditions that I review it. That’s fine, I am happy to review it with all honesty and objectivity (if its crap, I’m going to say so) but after a few emails from the company rep (parent company is the same as those Anker battery packs the FP is constantly shilling) whose email has an a gmail.com address not an @companyname.com, I am slightly concerned. When asked what obligations I am agreeing to if I review and keep the bar I get this

“About [company] led light bar, the most prominent feature is the wanted brightness and long life, can provide more light for your trip. Video recording, you can add pre-installation process, focusing on the use of late.

If you have anyother good ideas, please tell me.”

um...what?

I would assume; ‘Light’ instead of ‘Late’.. but you know what they say.

In that case, just give an Engrish review. You'll be speaking their language.

I saw your earlier post regarding the wiring. If it were my car, and this were to be a temporary arrangement, I would run a length of 12-gauge fine-stranded primary wire from the car’s battery up the edge of the windscreen and over to the light bar. I would cover it with blue masking tape. I’d route the wire behind or under the weather stripping for the door, covering the wire with two or three layers of the blue tape. Then when you’re done, easily removed. That blue masking tape is wonderful stuff. Scotch Brand.

yeah, my top option right now is 12-14 AWG direct bury in the a-pillar trim, I might mock it up without hiding the wires, or i might just go for it. The trick is that I need to find a way to get a waterproof connected up there that wont be a nuisance when the light is unplugged. I

reminds me of one time I bought a plate amplifier for a HT subwoofer I was building; it came with a remote control. Which included batteries! I thought they were Duracell alkalines at first, but no. They had the black and copper wrap just like Duracell, but the text on them said:

BATTERY

under that it said “EXERY NEAVY DUTY”

I was thinking temporary. There’s also aluminum tape that HVAC people use. That’s really great stuff. I’ve flipped a few Crown Vics and the cop shops usually use silicone and glue a dime-sized metal disk over the hole when they’re finished with the car. Or quarter-sized... I’m not big on aesthetics, though I don’t like things to look cobbled, either, but those little roof patches never bothered me. Function over form...

When it comes to agonizing over something like drilling a hole in the car, I usually find a way to make the project lasting but temporary, leaving the permanent surgery for later when I have hatched a good plan, and I often never get to that point.

I’ve ruled out drilling, I’m just not into that right now. That being said there is a possibility that the holes for the factory roof rack (thats coming off anyway) will allow me to fish a line up through there.

I dealt with the holes for the factory roof rack on my Safari van and they were expansion anchors where the screws corroded fast to the anchors and I had to grind the screws off and cover the anchors with silicone. Lovely.
